SPORT NEWS: Jayson Williams Gets 3 Years + Tim Lincecum Wins NL Cy Young + David Beckham's Foot Injury Update

After accidentally shooting a driver at a New Jersey estate, former NJ Nets baller Jayson Williams will serve up to 3 years in prison after taking a plea deal:

The plea deal would resolve all charges in the case that dragged out for nearly eight years!

During his 2002 trial, the jury deadlocked on the reckless manslaughter count, acquitted him of aggravated manslaughter and convicted him of covering up the shooting. He was never sentenced for the cover-up counts, pending the outcome of the retrial, and has remained free on bail.

Witnesses testified that while showing off a shotgun in his bedroom, Williams snapped the weapon shut and it fired one shot that struck driver Costas Christofi in the chest, killing him.

They also testified that Williams initially placed the gun in the dead man’s hands and instructed those present in the bedroom to lie about what happened.

The defense has maintained the shooting was an accident and that Williams panicked afterward.

Giants ace Tim Lincecum won the NL Cy Young Award on Thursday for the second consecutive season to become the first repeat winner since Randy Johnson, emerging from one of the tightest votes in the history of the honor.

Lincecum led the NL with 261 strikeouts and tied for the league lead with four complete games and two shutouts. The wiry right-hander, nicknamed "The Freak" for his giant stride, went 15-7 with a 2.48 ERA.

Only 10 points separated the top three vote-getters. Chris Carpenter was second and St. Louis teammate Adam Wainwright was third, despite getting the most first-place votes.

There's a reason David Beckham is rocking a "precautionary" walking boot on his right foot and it's not very precautionary at all.

David is suffering from a "tender foot", a result of a "series of knocks" he took to the appendage after an MLS playoff match against Chivas USA earlier this month.

A rep from the L.A. Galaxy tells us the foot is already better, and he's "practicing with the team today ahead of Sunday's MLS Cup."
